Celebrating narratives championing digital access, one village at a time, as per GMEA@12
The 12th edition of the Globe Media Excellence Awards (GMEA@12) is set to celebrate journalism and storytelling that empower grassroots communities and promote digital inclusion. With the theme "Digitally Forward: One Barangay at a Time," GMEA@12 aims to highlight how technology is reaching micro-communities, enabling families to thrive, businesses to grow, and communities to actively participate in nation-building.
The awards ceremony, which takes place this year, will honour storytellers who embody purpose in action, lead with integrity, elevate truth, and help shape a future where no one is left behind. This aligns closely with the Department of Information and Communications Technology's (DICT) agenda on digital inclusion, emphasizing access to technology at the local, community level, and helping bridge the digital divide.
GMEA@12 invites media practitioners and content creators from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to submit work published or aired between September 2024 and August 2025 for consideration. The submission period for GMEA@12 is from July 21 to August 31, 2025.
Special Awards will be given exclusively to First Place winners in various categories, including Integrated Media, Digital Storytelling, and Newsmaker of the Year. In the Digital Storytelling category, there will be awards for Best Blog Post and Best Social Media Video. The Globe of Good Story of the Year, formerly known as Kwentong Tagumpay Community, is also open for submissions in GMEA@12.
In the Integrated Media category, there will be First Place, Second Place, and Third Place distinctions for News that is published on both traditional and new digital platforms. The Editor of the Year award is also part of GMEA@12.
The awards ceremony celebrates stories that create impact, are told with heart, and shared across platforms. Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer at Globe, stated that the awards honor storytellers who embody purpose in action, lead with integrity, elevate truth, and help shape a future where no one is left behind.
The submission portal for GMEA@12 will go live on July 30, 2025, and can be accessed at http://globe.com.ph. GMEA@12 strengthens Globe's commitment to inclusive nation-building by amplifying the voices that help move the country forward, one story and one barangay at a time.
