Car crash causing injury leads to partial closure of Highway 3
On Thursday, July 24, 2025, a significant traffic accident occurred on the A3 near Wiesbaden, causing delays, injuries, and road closures.
The incident took place at around 15:47 Uhr, at km 144.3 on the A3, heading towards Würzburg. The accident involved three cars, with a Chevrolet colliding with a Toyota at the end of a traffic jam, which was further aggravated by the collision of the Chevrolet with the median barrier. A Toyota was subsequently pushed into a Tesla in front of it.
As a result of the accident, two lanes of the A3 towards Würzburg were closed, causing traffic congestion on the A3 southbound to stretch up to 8 kilometers long. The backup on the opposite lane, due to onlookers, extended the disruption up to 12 kilometers.
Six people were slightly injured and taken to nearby hospitals. Traffic on the A3 southbound came to a standstill at 15:47, and the road remained partially closed for approximately two hours.
Two of the cars involved in the accident were no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away, resulting in an estimated material damage of approximately 15,000 euros.
