Wyoming Historical Society Holds Inaugural Conference in Sheridan

The Wyoming Historical Society (WHS), dedicated to preserving Wyoming's rich historical past, is currently hosting its inaugural conference at the Historic Sheridan Inn, with the event running from Friday to Sunday. The conference is in conjunction with the 72nd Annual Membership meeting of the WHS.

The WHS, focusing on small museums and local history centers facing funding shortfalls, is welcoming anyone who wishes to help in preserving Wyoming's history to join them. Beki Speas, President of the WHS Executive board, is leading the charge.

Speas, who is also the President of the Executive Board of the Wyoming Historical Society, was present at the event's opening ceremony, which was marked by a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and the WHS board members.

Several vendors promoting Wyoming history-based products were present at the conference, offering attendees the opportunity to purchase unique items celebrating the state's history. Chamber CEO Teresa Detimore expressed excitement about the WHS joining the Chamber.

On Saturday, the WHS hosted tours around the area, an awards luncheon, a president's gala with guest speaker Bill Yellowtail, and music by Jalan Crossland. A silent auction was also held during the event to raise funds for the group.

For more information about the Wyoming Historical Society or the conference, visit wyshs.org or email [email protected]. The WHS looks forward to continuing its mission of preserving Wyoming's history and welcomes everyone to join them in their efforts.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time the Wyoming Historical Society has held their meeting in Sheridan. The Historic Sheridan Inn, with its rich history and charm, provides an ideal setting for the event. The WHS is committed to preserving Wyoming's history, and events like this conference are a testament to their dedication.
