Dieter Scholz, Sparkassen-Vorstandsvorsitzender, presented the award to Jacob Horsch, the current business manager of Brauerei Zum Kuchlbauer. The brewery, which holds brewing rights since 1300, has been operating since 1751, making it a long-standing family business from Abensberg.
The "Weissbier-Quartier" project also provides relief for the city centre, as it takes some of the strain off the traditional brewery's operations, allowing it to continue its centuries-old tradition while minimising its environmental impact.
