Oberhausen, Germany - Ludwig Gallery Oberhausen Hits Milestone with Loriot Exhibition as Newlyweds Surprise Visitors

The Ludwig Gallery Oberhausen has reached an impressive visitor milestone with its current exhibition, "Ach was. Loriot - Artist, Critic and Cartoonist". On Friday, May 23, 2025, the landmark of 50,000 visitors was surpassed, with a newlywed couple crowned as the jubilee visitors.

Curator Sarah Hülsewig presented the couple with a bouquet of flowers, brochures, and a poster of the exhibition, commemorating their special day. Loriot's humor, which has influenced generations and remains a distinctive element of German culture, was lauded by Hülsewig. The exhibition's success has led to an extension until June 15.

Loriot, born Vicco von Bülow, was a renowned German comedian, cartoonist, and artist, known for his work in humor, television, and the arts. The exhibition at the Ludwig Gallery Oberhausen showcases over 300 original drawings and cartoons, iconic TV props, and opera stage models from Loriot's time as a writer, actor, and director.

Following the extended final day on June 15, the gallery will make room for another artist exhibit, featuring Udo Lindenberg, starting on June 29, 2025. The exhibition, titled "Kometenhaft panisch. Likörelle, Udogramme, nackte Akte & mehr", will be supported by the Essen Bread Foundation and showcase Lindenberg's artworks, drawings, and sketches, including songs like "Komet" and "Sonderzug nach Pankow".

As the newest exemplars of Loriot's enduring impact on German humor and art, the newlywed visitors were embraced by the gallery as worthy celebrants of the unique cultural legacy on display.

The Ludwig Gallery Oberhausen's current exhibition has not only showcased Loriot's timeless humor and art but also caught the attention of home-and-garden enthusiasts, with its inspiring setup and ambiance becoming an integral part of a lifestyle that celebrates culture and tradition. The newlywed visitors, who graced the gallery on the jubilee day, exemplify the fusion of artistic expression and everyday life, making their visit one to remember within Oberhausen's home-and-garden scene.
