Bamberg Offers Free Twice-Yearly Green Waste Collection

Bamberg residents can now dispose of green waste more conveniently. The city offers twice-yearly collections of organic waste without registration or extra costs. The service aims to promote a cleaner and greener Bamberg.

The city provides green waste bags for year-round disposal. Larger quantities can be taken to the composting facility on Rheinstraße at any time. However, loose dumping is prohibited and may result in penalties. Only bundled waste, cut to a maximum length of one meter, will be collected. The service is limited to household quantities of purely plant-based waste.

The annual organic waste collections are at risk due to increasing misuse. Large amounts of large branches and other garden waste being illegally dumped on the roadside pose a threat to the service's continuation. The City of Bamberg, along with partner organizations and scientific monitoring, is reviewing the future of the collections. The project aims to develop a caring city society and serves as a model initiative for the region.

Bamberg Service is committed to managing organic waste effectively. Residents are encouraged to use the twice-yearly collections responsibly to ensure the service's sustainability. The city's administration, along with partner organizations, will decide on the future of the collections based on proper waste disposal practices.
