At the Hansetag event, prioritizing pedestrians was emphasized
The bustling city of Neuss is gearing up for the 42nd International Hansetag, taking place from May 26 to 29. This annual event, filled with markets, concerts, and cultural festivities, brings together nearly 100 Hansestadt cities and attracts thousands of visitors. However, the festivities come with some traffic changes and road closures to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all attendees.
Traffic Restrictions and Road Closures
Key streets around the Old Town and event areas will be closed to private vehicles for the duration of the festival. This includes Oberstraße, Hammer Landstraße, Batteriestraße, and Hessentordamm. For the most accurate and updated information on road closures and traffic restrictions, visitors are encouraged to check the official Neuss city website or local traffic authorities as the event dates approach.
Outside of closed hours, Hammer Landstraße can only be driven on from the Hessentorkreuzung towards the Rheinparkcenter. During the event, the full closure of Hammer Landstraße between the Hessentorkreuzung and the RennbahnPark entrance occurs at specific times.
Oberstraße between Obertor and the Rhineland Theater will be closed to traffic from Friday, May 27, to Sunday, May 29, from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM each day.
Parking in the event zone is often limited or prohibited, with designated alternative parking areas provided outside the closed-off zones. Public transport adjustments might be necessary, with bus routes potentially being diverted, and stops temporarily relocated to avoid the closed streets.
Cultural Highlights
The Hansemarkt, located in the heart of the city, will host a variety of events, including markets, concerts, and performances. A Hanse funfair, complete with amusement rides and attractions, will be set up on Hammer Landstraße and Wendersplatz.

For those with younger ones in tow, the "Hansekids" play area will be available on Saturdays in the green space between Zolltor and the Old Post Office.
