Anticipation surges as Wiesn frenzy takes hold, with predictions pointing towards escalated social interactions
New Song Competition for Oktoberfest 2025: Results Awaited
The countdown to Oktoberfest 2025 is on, and with it comes the much-anticipated reveal of the new song that will be the festival's anthem for the year. The "A Liad für d'Wiesn" competition, which showcases Bavarian regional music, has concluded, but the winner and release date of the winning song have yet to be announced.
This year, the competition saw a pre-selection of 115 songs, judged on criteria such as suitability for the festival tent, playability, lyrics, and release date. The public vote, which ran from June 12 to July 16, engaged fans with prize draws for beer and chicken vouchers. As of late July 2025, no final winner or official release date for the winning song has been published.
Munich's economic affairs chief and Oktoberfest director, Christian Scharpf, is overseeing the preparations for the world's largest folk festival, which is scheduled to take place from September 20 to October 5. This year, the festival grounds will be more accessible than ever, with more streets becoming barrier-free.
New attractions are also in store for visitors. The new carousel, "Happy Sailor", features 20 rotating gondolas, while the children's ride "Die Montgolfiere" boasts a hot air balloon design. For those seeking a thrill, the "Sky Lift" will take guests up to 71 meters high above the city, offering panoramic views through its panoramic windows. The ride is both dizzying and barrier-free, with wheelchair access to the gondolas.
Another popular attraction expected to gain popularity in the Wiesn tents is "Wackelkontakt". Originally a hit in ski huts, this game involves players trying to keep a ball in motion by hitting it with their hands.
A group from the "Pfennigparade" foundation will test the accessibility offerings at the Wiesn to ensure they cater to all visitors. Approximately six million visitors are expected at the festival this year.
With the excitement building, Munich is gearing up for another unforgettable Oktoberfest. Stay tuned for the announcement of the winning song from the "A Liad für d'Wiesn" competition.
