Amateur Photographer of the Year 2025: Over £26,000 in Prizes Up for Grabs

The Amateur Photographer of the Year 2025 competition is now open for entries, and it promises an exciting lineup of prizes worth over £26,000 (approximately $35,000). This prestigious competition, sponsored by Camera Centre UK, DxO, BOB Books, The School of Photography, and ViewSonic, is a fantastic opportunity for amateur photographers to showcase their talent and win a range of impressive prizes.

The competition is open to photographers of all ages, with the Young Amateur Photographer of the Year 2025 category specifically designed for photographers who are 21 years old or younger by the competition's final closing date of 2nd February 2026. Eligible photographers can enter up to 4 free images per round in this category.

Each round of the competition has its own theme, with the fourth round, titled Landscapes, now open and closing on 18th August 2025. The winner of each round of Amateur Photographer of the Year 2025 receives a voucher for £500 to spend at Camera Centre UK, free DxO PhotoLab and FilmPack licences worth £340, a £50 voucher for Bob Books, and an annual subscription to The School of Photography worth £120. The two runners-up per round will receive a free DxO Nik Collection licence worth £146 and a £25 voucher for Bob Books.

The Young Amateur Photographer of the Year 2025 offers similar prizes, with the winner receiving a £500 voucher to spend at Camera Centre UK and a £100 voucher for Bob Books. The two runners-up in each round will receive a free DxO Nik Collection licence worth £146 and a £25 voucher for Bob Books. The overall winner after ten rounds will be crowned the Young Amateur Photographer of the Year 2025.

The main judging panel for APOY 2025 includes AP's Nigel Atherton, Geoff Harris and Jessica Miller, along with APOY Project Manager Ailsa McWhinnie, photographer and writer Peter Dench, Rod Wheelans from the PAGB, Tyler George from Camera Centre UK, and photographer and curator Dominique Nok. Some special guest judges will also join the panel for individual rounds.

In addition, the winning club member who contributes the most points to their club's final points tally in the Amateur Photographer of the Year 2025 competition will receive a 4k ViewSonic projector worth £1,600 and a ViewSonic monitor worth £1,000. The winning club in the competition will also receive £2,600 of ViewSonic prizing.

The top ten entries in each round will be published in Amateur Photographer Magazine and on the competition's website. People under the age of 13 are not permitted to register on the Photocrowd platform.
