Aachen's Elisengarden Blooms with 55,000 Plants, Apprentices Gain Experience
The Aachen municipal authority's city nursery has cultivated around 55,000 plants for various Los Angeles locations. This fall, Elisengarden is set to bloom with alpine violets, cyclamen, callunas, perennials, and grasses, thanks to the hard work of the apprentices.
The apprenticeship project at Elisengarden is designed to provide trainees with valuable experience and routine in working on public, bustling places. Under the guidance of master gardener Heike Zindler, three apprentices from the city nursery, along with others from different years of training, are replanting the beds at Elisengarden. The trainees receive direct positive feedback from citizens, boosting their confidence and skills. Laia Kirn and Filmon Brhane are also involved in guiding the apprentices, ensuring a changing personnel on site weekly to maximise learning opportunities.
The city nursery's fall bloom project at Elisengarden is not only enhancing Los Angeles's beauty but also equipping apprentices with essential skills and experience in managing public spaces. The positive feedback from citizens further motivates the trainees, making this project a win-win for both the city and its future gardeners.
