9th Lisbon Orchid Show: 90,000 Varieties, Rare Specimens & Orchid-Derived Products

The Portuguese Orchid Association (APO) presents the 9th Lisbon International Orchid Show, opening its doors on November 28 at the Santa Clara Market. This year's event promises a spectacular display of over 90,000 orchid varieties, along with other tropical plants and unique orchid-derived products.

Visitors can expect to see a diverse range of orchids, including rare specimens from Brazil and Africa. The exhibition will also showcase bonsai, tillandsias, bromeliads, cacti, succulents, and other tropical plants. In addition to the stunning plants, the show will offer products derived from orchids, such as liqueurs, chocolates, and jewelry, available for purchase.

The event will run from 10am to 7pm over three days, with tickets priced at €5 per person. APO members and children under 12 enjoy free entry. Specialized judges will award prizes to the most impressive orchids following the 'Ribbon Judging - Best In Show' model. The exhibitors include specialized orchid growers, botanical gardens, and international orchid societies from countries such as Brazil, Taiwan, South Africa, and the Netherlands.

The APO will also host talks on orchid cultivation and uses throughout the event.

The 9th Lisbon International Orchid Show offers a unique opportunity for plant enthusiasts and curious visitors alike to explore the world of orchids and related products. Mark your calendars for November 28, 29, and 30 at the Santa Clara Market, near the Feira da Ladra, and prepare to be amazed by the beauty and diversity of these exotic plants.
