A 34-storey skyscraper has been approved for 130 Fenchurch Street, set to transform the City skyline. The project, hailed as 'extremely good news' by Lawrence Newport of the Looking for Growth pressure group, will redevelop the currently vacant Fountain House tower block into state-of-the-art office space.
The new building, designed by Wilkinson Eyre and to be constructed by Co-Re, will have a distinct architectural character and improve the surrounding public realm. It will boast 58,000 sq m of commercial office space, a floor dedicated to public exhibitions, and over 4,000 sq ft of retail and hospitality facilities. The company leading the development is Aviva Investors, with CO-RE as the developer on the job. As part of the redevelopment, the existing 16-storey Fountain House will be demolished.
